Teacher: Structured Learning Center
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s degree in Early Childhood, Elementary, or Special Education.
2. Valid Oregon license with Handicap Learner endorsement appropriate to assignment.
3. Must have excellent attendance and punctuality.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL:
Using developmentally appropriate practices and special education strategies, provides for the special educational needs of approximately 12 developmentally delayed students in a classroom setting.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The structured learning center specialist assumes primary responsibility for:
a. Developing and implementing a structured and supportive program for students with significant developmental disabilities.
b. Planning children’s programs by selecting specific activities, materials, and methods as related to diagnostic findings and recommendations of the evaluation team.
c. Completing functional behavioral assessments and appropriate behavior support plans, as indicated.
d. Planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate practices consistent with the District’s primary program goals.
e. Developing the necessary written plans and procedural forms to ensure legal compliance with state and federal IDEA regulations.
f. Collaborating with other primary grade teachers and members of the building MDT to provide most appropriate services to all children enrolled in the developmental classroom.
g. Communicating with the parents frequently to discuss the children’s progress.
2. Provides support and relevant information to parents of students enrolled in the class, including:
a. In person and by telephone, collaborate with parents to review progress and concerns.
b. Preparing and sending home periodic written progress reports.
3. The developmental primary specialist consults with other professionals and outside agencies regarding children, as appropriate.
4. Direct instructional assistant staff working with children enrolled in the program.
5. Assist with personal management and care of children in the classroom who may have medical or self-care needs.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be established in accordance with the certified collective bargaining agreement.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation.
