Safety Policy

WE WORK TO KEEP YOUR CHILDREN SAFE:

Monthly fire drills as well as earthquake and lockdown drills are practiced.

All doors are kept locked. Visitors and volunteers must check in at the office and wear identification badges while in the building.

Staff on recess duty carry walkie-talkes in order to be in communication with our school office.

Staff membership on the District Safety Committee helps implement an ongoing effort to ensure the safety of students, staff and others while on district property.

A PBIS team is in place to encourage our four school rules: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Respectful & Be Responsible.

Classroom conversations with students on making safe choice and in seeking help when needed are ongoing.

Children must have communication from home in the form of a End of Day Change Request in order to change their dismissal destination. Unexpected changes to transportation should be done by phone at least 1 hour before dismissal.

ITEMS NOT ALLOWED AT SCHOOL

Students are not to bring any electronic devices to school. This includes, but is not limited to, iPods or handheld video games. (DS, GameBoy, etc.) Cell phones and phone watches may be brought to school, but they must stay turned off and stored in backpacks during the school day. Students are not allowed to use their personal cell phones, including phone watches, for calling or texting during the school day.

Other items that are not to be brought to school include perfumes and cologne sprays, balls, toys, trading cards (Pokemon), scooters, skateboards, pocket knives/weapons, or large amounts of money. Students are not allowed to buy, sell or trade items at school.

The school assumes no responsibility for loss or damage of personal items. If a student brings an item that is not allowed, the following procedure will be used:

1st Offense: Item is confiscated and returned to the student at the end of the school day to go back home.

2nd Offense: Item is confiscated and brought to the main office. Parents are contacted and must come to the school to retreive the item.
