Teacher: Elementary Physical Education
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree.
2. Valid Oregon teaching license with appropriate endorsement.
3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Description:
The individual accepting this assignment will teach physical education at the elementary school level (grades K-5).
1. Must communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students.
2. Will teach Physical Education to elementary classes.
3. Must work effectively with students of varying abilities.

1. Valid Oregon teaching license appropriate to the assignment.
2. Physical Education endorsement required.
3. Must demonstrate a commitment to equity and lifelong learning.
4. Provide structure and leadership to facilitate physical education curriculum change and assist in identifying physical education curricular needs.
5. Provide advice and consultation in regard to District policy formation and priorities as they affect physical education.
6. Ability to work well with other staff, students, and parents.

JOB GOAL:
To develop in each pupil an understanding of the relationship of good body function and exercise; to motivate each pupil to cultivate physical fitness, hygienic habits and good social and emotional adjustment; to discover and develop talents of pupils in physical achievement; develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual, and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each pupil's ability.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Help principals, department heads and regular teaching staff identify building level in- service needs and develop a physical education program for each building.
2. Demonstrate proper physical education processes to students with cooperation of classroom teachers.
3. Provide structure and leadership to facilitate physical education curriculum change and assist in identifying physical education curricular needs.
4. Provide advice and consultation in regard to District policy formation and priorities as they affect physical education.
5. Identify district-wide physical education in-service needs and recommend appropriate in-service programs to the Assistant Superintendent.
7. Assist in the evaluation and purchasing of physical education equipment and supplies.
8. Assist in the total promotion of the physical education and program, but only as they are educationally sound in harmony with other phases of the total educational program of the District.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be established in accordance with the licensed collective bargaining agreement.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the licensed agreement.
