Officer Pohl has excelled at his commitment to this community by not only preforming his job as a Law Officer, he also takes on roles with the DEA and HIDTA (High intensity Drug Trafficking Areas) Officer Pohl and his K9, Grendel were high in demand for the excellent work performed by both. Officer Pohl and Grendel didn’t just stay involved at the drug level within our community, they both spent many hours at our elementary, junior highs and high school – showing off Grendel’s amazing abilities and our students loved seeing them both show up to share!

Officer Pohl has participated for multiple years for Career Day at our High school. He has also spent many opportunities to bring Grendel for “jobs” which ended up being great opportunities for petting sessions from many students. He has also spent many hours teaching drug education at our elementary schools. 4 years ago, we started brainstorming on how to educate our community on the fentanyl epidemic and we collaborated on our Fentanyl awareness parent/community education night and he supported me in sharing my son’s story at our high school assembly last year- and he even shared his amazing google slides with me!

I have chosen Officer Pohl and his partner, Grendel as my VIP for OCSD’s celebration of 150 VIP in our community for people who make our schools extraordinary and pour their hearts into supporting our students.
