SEL/Behavioral Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree in education, special education or related field.
2. Valid Oregon teaching license.
3. Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in public education.
4. Knowledgeable of PBIS and MTSS, including positive behavioral and intervention system models.
5. Experience supporting students with lagging social, emotional, and/or behavior skills.
6. Knowledgeable of emerging literature around neurobiology or trauma, ACES responsive classroom ecology, and collaborative problem solving model.
7. Excellent communication skills using multi modalities of communication (interpersonal, tech-based, team collaboration.)
8. Demonstrated ability with data analysis.
9. Demonstrated successful leadership with school based student support teams.

Instructional assistants when available
JOB GOAL:
To provide guidance to staff and parents, lead instruction for elementary students in the school classroom designed for social emotional regulation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implement Multi-Tiered Behavior Support Interventions in all common areas of the school environment.
2. Support PBIS systems in all classroom environments.
3. Coordinate, facilitate, and implement proactive behavior intervention steps and processes with staff.
4. Manage minor and mid-range student behavior incidents by providing family contact, restorative practices, progressive discipline, classroom coaching, data collection and intervention.
5. Collaborate with the school administrators, teachers, classified staff and families to promote a positive school climate where students feel a strong sense of belonging.
6. Attend and participate in various leadership team meetings and other building meetings as assigned.
7. Collaborate with the school administrators to provide professional learning and coaching for school staff related to behavior intervention strategies.
8. Demonstrate a commitment to equity in all settings with a focus on disrupting disparities for historically underserved students.
9. Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the building administrator and Director of Special Services in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation.
