Teacher: Construction


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree or work force experience equivalent.

2. Hold a valid Oregon teaching license with the appropriate endorsements or;

3. Qualify for a vocational/technical teaching endorsement with a combination of education and/or work experience.

4. Possess knowledge of the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of adolescents.

5. Experience with high-school-age students.

6. Possess knowledge and skills necessary to implement best instructional and assessment practices.

7. Possess knowledge of effective behavior management methods.

8. Possess functional computer literacy and knowledge of how technology can assist instruction.

JOB GOAL:

To create a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning; to implement instructional strategies and programs that meet the needs of a diverse student population; to assist students in the acquisition of skills, knowledge and attitudes related employment in the professional/technical occupations; and to develop a positive working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents, and community.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Demonstrates materials, equipment, tools, and possesses, using standard of teacher prepared models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aids.

2. Provides instruction of basic construction skills in fully equipped woodshop.

3. Provides instruction of basic house framing skills.

4. Provides instruction including framing from foundation to roof, doors, windows, wiring, plumbing, finishing work, and drywall.

5. Provides instruction of basic cabinetmaking and installation.

6. Takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe, secure learning environment.

7. Ensures that all materials and equipment are properly used, maintained and stored, and that inventory records are accurate and current.

8. Takes all precautions to provide a safe, secure, and clean learning environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

A minimum of 191 days per school year. Salary to be established in accordance with the licensed collective bargaining agreement.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the licensed agreement.
