Athletic Director


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Hold an Oregon teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement.

2. Extensive background in both men's and women's athletic, inter and intramural activities.

3. Knowledge of league and state rules and regulations governing sporting events.

4. Knowledge of first aid and safety/training practices as they apply to athletics.

5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL:

To provide each enrolled student of secondary school age an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasure of sport and the principles of fair play.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

l. Organize and administer the overall program of extracurricular athletics for the school, both intramural and interscholastic, including scheduling of events.

2. Provide leadership in the selection, assignment, and evaluation of athletic coaches and staff members.

3. Foster good school/community relations by keeping the community aware of and responsive for the athletic program.

4. Arrange for officials, team physicians, and policemen as required and assume general responsibility for proper supervision of home events.

5. Arrange transportation for contest participants, as well as meals for athletes and coaches where appropriate.

6. Develop and implement appropriate rules and regulations governing the conduct of athletic activities.

7. Verify eligibility of each athlete, both physically and academically.

8. Prepare and administer the athletic program budget; requisition program supplies and equipment; and work with the purchasing department on purchase and bid of materials.

9. Arrange details of visiting teams' needs.

10. Arrange field and facility practice schedules.

11. Administer the insurance program covering school athletes and assume responsibility for processing of reports and claims.

12. Keep records of results of athletic contests, maintain a record file of all award winners, plan and supervise an annual recognition program for school athletes.

13. Direct an in-school, extracurricular program designed to foster support for the athletic teams and school spirit among nonparticipants.

14. Perform other tasks as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year to be established in accordance with the Certified Agreement.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Certified Agreement.
