Principal


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master's degree or higher in education.

2. Valid Oregon administrative license.

3. Minimum of 5 years of highly successful teaching and school administrative experience.

4. Strong current knowledge of K-12 curriculum, assessment, and program evaluation techniques.

5. Knowledge of current effective K-12 instructional practices, including intervention and support programs.

6. Skill in staff professional development assessment, strategies and methodologies.

7. Skills in developing and maintaining relationships with a diverse community.

8. Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, and/or demonstrated commitment to equity.

9. Strong understanding and history of successful customer service and ability to establish and maintain effective relations with patrons and staff.

10. Effective oral and written communications; strong analytical ability, and the ability to prepare efficient and effective studies and reports.

11. Ability to work both independently and cooperatively.

12. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.

13. Demonstrated supervisory ability in observing, evaluating, and developing teachers and support staff.

14. Valid state driver’s license.

15. Bilingual candidates preferred.

Director of Teaching & Learning

SUPERVISES:

All building staff, including administrative, licensed and classified positions.

JOB GOAL:

Serves as the school and educational leader responsible for development, implementation, supervision, and evaluation of a comprehensive program of educational and student services. Administers the program in accordance with board policies, statutory requirements, administrative rules and regulations, district leadership direction, and is consistent with collective bargaining agreements. Serves as an advocate for the staff, school, and school community as appropriate.

a. Diagnoses the current state of the school, develops clear and focused school improvement plans and adjusts strategy based on progress.

b. Organizes school time effectively to support all instructional and staff development priorities.

c. Allocates resources effectively to support learning goals.

3. School Culture:

a. Ensures adults and students demonstrate consistent values and positive behaviors aligned to the schools vision and mission.

b. Builds a culture of high achievement and aspiration for every student and staff.

c. Ensures the implementation of systems that support child and youth development and provides social-emotional supports.

d. Proactively engages families and communities in supporting their child’s learning and the school’s learning goals.

e. Builds systems and processes to ensure the active participation of adults and students in school improvement.

4. Learning and Teaching:

a. Ensures rigorous curricula tied to both state and college-readiness standards is in place.

b. Implements consistent quality classroom routines and instructional strategies.

c. Utilizes multiple forms of student-level data to drive increases in student achievement and implement student interventions.

5. Staff Development and Management:

a. Increases teacher effectiveness by recruiting, hiring, assigning and retaining effective staff.

b. Supports teacher effectiveness by ensuring quality observations, feedback, coaching, and professional learning structures.

5. Staff Development and Management, continued:

c. Sets clear expectations for performance and manages performance of all staff through effective evaluations.

d. Trains, develops, and supports a high-performing instructional leadership team.

6. Personal Leadership and Growth

a. Demonstrates self-awareness, ongoing learning, and resiliency in the service of continuous improvement of both personal and school-wide practices.

b. Proactively identifies solutions both anticipating and responding to opportunities and challenges.

c. Effectively manages change in order to improve student achievement.

7. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

215 days(Elementary) 225 day(MS/HS) per year. Salary to be established by the Superintendent.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of administrators by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning.
