Lead Maintenance Worker


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Limited maintenance electrical license and valid first aid card required.

2. Sufficient education to ensure the ability to read and write as required in the position.

3. Thorough knowledge of the tools, materials, methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, equipment, buildings and grounds.

4. Knowledge of heating and cooling systems, their operation, maintenance and repair.

5. Considerable knowledge of the requirements of maintaining school buildings and grounds in a safe, clean and efficient fashion.

6. Considerable knowledge of the procedures and techniques for making routine but moderately complex electrical, plumbing, mechanical and construction repairs.

7. Ability to prioritize activities and workloads.

8. Ability to perform strenuous physical labor involving the movement of equipment and furnishings.

9. Ability to maintain necessary record-keeping systems.

10. Ability to effectively supervise maintenance employees, coordinate, schedule, organize and direct multiple projects.

11. Ability to follow through on oral and written instructions or work requests by implementing appropriate action and ensuring that work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.

12. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with custodial staff, maintenance staff, supervisors, teachers, principals, students, administrators and the general public.

13. Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experiences and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above.

REPORTS TO:

Facilities Services Supervisor

SUPERVISES:

Facilities Services employees

JOB GOAL:

Assisting the Facilities Services Supervisor with the operations of the Facilities Services Department and District programs; supervising Facilities Services employees; coordinating and scheduling parts, equipment and labor; working as a Facilities Services employee, performing all the maintenance and grounds functions in the District as required; making purchases and recommending purchases; serving on assigned committees; assisting with inspections of buildings.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare and interpret plans and specifications.

2. Plan and organize the work involved in maintaining school buildings and grounds.

3. Estimate costs of maintenance work.

4. Plan, coordinate, schedule and direct multiple projects and employees.

5. Carry out District policies.

6. Prepare verbal and written reports.

7. Assume responsibilities of Facilities Services Supervisor in his/her absence.

8. Perform maintenance, custodial and grounds work in the District.

9. Provide training to custodial and maintenance employees.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve-month year, eight hours per day. Salary and work year to be established by the labor agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Facilities Services Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation.
