Maintenance Specialist


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ability to read, interpret, and teach large and small groups about complex district, local, state and federal laws, policies and codes.

2. Ability to develop and implement district-wide compliance programs, facility maintenance programs, energy management programs and safety programs.

3. Ability to effectively communicate and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, administrators, supervisors, government agencies and the general public.

4. Ability to effectively use computer programs such as Word, Excel, Access, and ACT 1000; perform programming of computerized energy management systems and use, program and calibrate other computerized devices.

5. Ability to develop and maintain complex files and records.

6. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

7. Knowledge of and experience in school systems and organizations.

8. Ability to efficiently work independently, prioritize work, and follow written and oral directions.

9. Ability to safely work in confined spaces, high elevations, extreme weather conditions, potentially hazardous conditions and with hazardous chemicals.

10. Ability to operate maintenance equipment, tools and computerized devices.

REPORTS TO:

Facilities Services Supervisor

SUPERVISES:

None

JOB GOAL:

Under the direction of the Facilities Services Supervisor, is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining district-wide projects and programs required by the district, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), building codes, fire codes, electrical codes and other regulatory agencies laws and codes; develops, implements and maintains other facilities, energy and safety related programs; and develops and presents training programs to large and small groups.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLILITIES:

1. Interpret, communicate and train others on the requirements of complex district, local, state and federal laws, codes, policies and requirements.

2. Develop, implement and maintain district-wide compliance programs, facility-related programs, energy management programs, safety programs and other programs. This includes providing training to large and small groups.

3. Perform building inspections, write reports, develop and maintain complex records using computer and filing systems.

4. Work in confined spaces, high elevations, extreme weather conditions, potentially hazardous locations and with hazardous chemicals to perform physical labor, perform inspections, provide training and perform measurements.

5. Program computerized energy management systems, use computer programs such as Word, Excel, Access, ACT 1000, and use other computerized equipment as needed.

6. Work cooperatively and assist with coordinating work between school personnel, district personnel, companies and agencies .

7. Work varying days and hours as assigned.

8. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve-month year, eight hours per day. Salary and work year to be established by the collective bargaining agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation.
