Secretary II


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Knowledge of English, spelling and punctuation.

2. Ability to perform routine clerical tasks with limited supervision.

3. Type rapidly and accurately.

4. Maintain records in efficient manner.

5. Make arithmetical calculations.

6. Spell correctly and use good English (speak clearly).

7. Develop and maintain harmonious relations with staff, students, and patrons.

8. Ability to carry out all of own routines and follow through to completion.

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal and School Secretary

SUPERVISES:

This position does not normally carry with it the super- vision of other personnel. Employee may, on occasion, be asked to review work of student office workers.

JOB GOAL:

Perform varied clerical and secretarial duties usually under the direction of the head secretary. Serve as liaison between school, community and central office.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist head secretary as assigned.

2. Substitutes for head secretary when she is absent.

3. Answers telephone.

4. Gives information and directions to students and teachers.

5. Develops and maintains student records.

6. Prepares correspondence, announcements, memos, and limited materials for teachers.

7. Receives, sorts and distributes mail.

8. Receipts money received.

9. Assists with recording of confidential material.

10. Mails letters, forms, applications as requested and distributes materials as directed.

11. Performs other duties as requested by administrators or head secretary.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

As agreed. Salary to be established by the labor agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the building principal in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation.
