Unified Sports Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Be approved as a Special Olympics Class A volunteer. (Start by emailing them at volunteer@soor.org to get the process started.)
2. Prior to coaching, be able to complete: Special Olympics General Orientation Training and Quiz, Protective Behaviors Training and Quiz, and a Concussion Education Training and Quiz: http://www.soor.org/Sub-Page.aspx?Name=Volunteers&PID=57
3. Coach individual/team participants in the skills necessary for achievement and sportsmanship in the sport involved.
4. Ability to effectively communicate with administration, teaching staff, community members, parents, and student athletes.
5. Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.

Principals, Assistant Administrator of Special Services
SUPERVISES:
None
JOB GOAL:
To help each participating student improve their skills, gain an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and have an increased level of self-esteem.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLE:
1. Coach individual participants in the skills necessary to improve in the sport involved.
2. Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
3. Work closely with related supervisors in scheduling of intramural and interscholastic contests.
4. Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate and collect uniforms at the end of the season.
5. Maintain necessary attendance forms, eligibility listing, insurance records, emergency forms, and similar paperwork.
6. Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
7. Establish team guidelines for eligibility in interscholastic competition in the sport.
8. Enforce safe and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and establish and oversee consequences, if necessary.
9. Perform other tasks as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be established in accordance with the Certified Agreement.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Certified Agreement.
