Academic/Behavioral Intervention Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree in education, special education or related field.
2. Valid Oregon teaching license.
3. Experience working with students exhibiting behavioral/academic challenges.
4. Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring learning goals and objectives.
5. Ability to plan and implement educational program components in an organized and independent fashion.
6. Ability to work with interdisciplinary team.
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO:
Building Principal
SUPERVISES:
Instructional assistants when available
JOB GOAL:
Under the supervision of the principal, provides monitoring of academic performance and behavioral expectations of students and programs in an elementary school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates activities within the Social Emotional Curriculum. This includes providing social emotional instruction, providing targeted guidance to individuals and groups, and ensuring generalization of strategies by students outside of the lesson time .
2. Provides leadership to the team in planning, implementing, monitoring and documentation of academic and social emotional activities for students.
3. Consults with regular education staff and support personnel to ensure that appropriate modifications and adaptations are provided for those students participating within regular education settings needing support in behavior or academics.
4. Communicates with parents, as appropriate, to provide information on student progress and provide parent educational opportunities for learning.
5. Intervenes and assists with behavioral and academic challenges within the context of the educational setting.
6. Ensures that academic and behavioral data relevant to student performance iscollated and charted in an organized and efficient fashion.
7. Other duties as assigned or are necessary to implement the goals and objectives of the social emotional program delivered by the grant.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the building administrator and Director of Special Services in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation.
