AISP High School Resource Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree in education, specialist education or related field.
2. Valid Oregon teaching certificate with Handicapped Learner endorsement.
3. Experience working with high-school-age students exhibiting behavioral/social/emotional challenges.
4. Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plan goals and objectives.
5. Ability to plan and implement educational program components in an organized and independent fashion.
6. Ability to work with interdisciplinary team.
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

SUPERVISES:
Program instructional assistants
JOB GOAL:
To provide case management and lead instruction for high school students served in program designed for emotionally and/or behaviorally challenged students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates all education activities within the alternative instructional strategies program classroom. This includes providing academic instruction, providing special education case management, and ensuring implementation of students' Individual Education Plans.
2. Provides leadership to the intervention team in planning, implementing, monitoring and documentation of education activities for students enrolled within the program.
3. Consults with regular education staff and support personnel to ensure that appropriate modifications and adaptations are provided for those students participating within regular education settings.
4. Reviews and/or modifies curriculum and course requirements used in the program.
5. Communicates with parents, as appropriate, to provide information on student progress and enlist parent support for program activities.
6. Intervenes with behavioral and discipline problems within the context of program structure.
7. Supervises the activities of assigned assistants.
8. Ensures that written reports and documents relevant to student participation in special education programs are completed on a timely basis.
9. Ensures that academic and behavioral data relevant to student performance is collated and charted in an organized and efficient fashion.
10. Participates on the building multi-disciplinary team.
11. Other duties as assigned or are necessary to implement the goals and objectives of the alternative instructional strategies program.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
191 days per year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the building administrator and Director of Special Services in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation.
