TOSA: Mathematics
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s degree required;
2. Valid Oregon teaching license appropriate to the assignment with a minimum of five (5) successful years of teaching.
3. Background/expertise in K-12 math curriculum.
4. Demonstrate ability to effectively lead, support and and collaborate with fellow educators
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL:
The Mathematics TOSA is responsible for assisting with the adoption process for K-12 Mathematics programs and curriculum as well as the implementation of that adoption across K-12 teams and schools. The position includes providing professional development and ongoing consultation to classroom teachers so best practices in instruction and assessment are clearly understood and fully embedded into the curriculum.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborates with the Department of Teaching & Learning in adoption of materials, development of curriculum design, and implementation for K-12 schools.
Introduces and implements a range of mathematics practices in K-12 classrooms.
Coordinates the development, evaluation, and articulation of mathematics curriculum.
Provides leadership and development of strategies supportive of standards based education including regular review of data and student outcomes.
Encourages and assists with innovations in instruction and in coordination of the instructional program. Explores strategies to improve mathematic skills at all levels to meet the needs of each and every student.
Builds teacher leadership in the area of mathematics at the building level.
Coordinates and provides staff development activities for all teachers on mathematics topics.
Attends professional development for mathematics to bring forward emerging best practices.
Meets with K-12 principals and instructional coaches to develop mathematics strategies and a responsive implementation plan.
Supports professional learning communities to Identify and/or develop formative and summative assessment tools for mathematics.
Provides model teaching lessons or side by side coaching as a support to classroom teachers.
Serves as a liaison between elementary, middle and high school math teachers and specialists in math curriculum, instruction and assessment.
Explores specific strategies and practices to improve mathematics for all students, including English Learners, students experiencing disability, and TAG students.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As agreed. Salary to be established by the labor agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation.
