Position Summary:
The Director of Operations works with the Superintendent to provide leadership and oversight for Community Education, Maintenance and Facilities Services, Nutrition Services, Technology Services, and Transportation Services, and administers these departments of the District in such a way as to provide the best possible educational support services with the financial resources available.
Essential Functions:
1. Overall responsibility for Facilities Services, Nutrition Services, Transportation Services, Auxiliary Services and Technology Services, including the supervision of individuals managing these services.
a. Provide leadership, coordination, development, implementation, and evaluation of the District’s facilities, maintenance, and construction programs.
b. Oversee the development, execution, support, and evaluation of a robust and comprehensive information technology (IT) system.
c. Plan, manage, and supervise the District transportation program.
d. Coordinate with contracted nutrition services administrator to manage, supervise, and monitor nutrition programs in District schools. Responsible for federal and state reporting.
2. Acts as advisor to the Superintendent on all questions relating to the operational affairs of the District.
3. Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating all non-licensed and support staff personnel within assigned departments.
4. Manages the District's real estate, insurance, and risk management programs.
5. Develops a facility expansion program and supervises plant construction.
6. Interprets the operational concerns of the District to the community.
7. Provides overall leadership and management of the District’s capital improvements program and bond development, to include planning, design, contracting, construction, and program evaluation of capital projects.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Ability to exercise some independent judgment while adhering to prescribed policies and procedures and perform the essential functions of the position with minimal supervision.
2. Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships and work in partnership with supervisors, other staff, students, and the general public.
3. Ability to demonstrate professionalism in dress, speech and manner appropriate to the assignment and work setting.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Successful completion of criminal history records check, as required by law.
2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business or Education Administration.
3. Minimum of five years experience in an educational setting or business function, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
4. Demonstrated proficiency in supervisory experience.
5. Familiarity with Oregon school finance and administration.
6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bilingual Spanish.
2. Strong lens on educational equity and serving the needs of diverse students.
