Bus Driver
qualifications:
1. Possession of a valid driver's/chauffeur's license and the ability to meet the requirements, as set forth by the Oregon State Department of Education, for a bus driver's license.
2. Must meet the physical qualifications as established by the Oregon State Department of Education.
3. Past driving record must meet minimum requirements established by the Oregon State Department of Education.
4. Ability to work with students, staff, administration and the public in a harmonious way.
5. Sufficient driving experience to enable the individual to meet all above qualifications.
6. High school diploma or equivalent.
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

performance responsibilities:
1. Obeys all traffic laws.
2. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
3. Maintains discipline when students are on bus.
4. Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
5. Keeps assigned bus clean.
6. Keeps to assigned schedule.
7. Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
8. Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
9. Discharges students only at authorized stops.
10. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
11. Transports only authorized students.
12. Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
13. Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
14. Conducts emergency evacuation drills for bus passengers when requested by supervisor.
15. Maintains a working knowledge of first aid as required by the School District to enable driver to render first aid assistance as necessary.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
terms of employment:
As agreed. Salary to be established by the labor agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.
evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Transportation Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation.
