District Groundskeeper
qualifications:
1. Knowledge of basic reading, writing and arithmetic.
2. Possess herbicide/pesticide license.
3. Thorough knowledge of and ability to use machinery and equipment necessary for spraying, mowing, trimming, cutting, and otherwise maintaining grounds, plants, etc.
4. Basic knowledge of small equipment maintenance and repair.
5. Valid Oregon driver's license.
6. Ability to plan and organize time.
7. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, other staff, and the public.

performance responsibilities:
1. Maintains and cares for District grounds.
2. Plants seeds, bulbs, tree seedlings, and shrubbery so that resulting growth will produce attractive appearance.
3. Prunes trees and trims hedges to promote growth and improve appearance.
4. Mows lawns and fields with hand or power mower.
5. Connects sprinkling equipment and waters lawn and flower beds.
6. Inspects flowers, shrubs, and trees for evidence of insects, fungi, and other pests and sprays or dusts chemicals on infected areas.
7. Adjusts and repairs such equipment as lawnmowers, sprinklers, and hedge shears.
8. Shovels snow from sidewalks and driveways and spreads sand, salt or ashes to prevent slipping.
9. Collects and disposes of leaves and refuse.
10. During inclement weather, when unable to work outside, may be assigned maintenance/custodial duties.
11. Performs other tasks as assigned.
terms of employment:
Twelve-month year, eight hours per day. Salary and work year to be established by the labor agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Maintenance Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation.
