Elementary Principal’s Secretary


qualifications:

1. Knowledge of modern office methods, practices and procedures.

2. Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.

3. Knowledge of first aid.

4. Ability to perform with speed and accuracy; type accurately from clear copy at the rate of 50 wpm and operate or learn to operate office equipment; and make arithmetical calculations.

5. Learn, interpret and apply school law, policies and regulations, and follow through when building principal is out of building.

6. Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records and reports.

7. Develop and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, students and public.

Supervision of other clerical staff is responsibility of positions in this classification.

job goal:

Performs varied clerical and secretarial work under direction of principal. Assignments will include work of moderate complexity and difficulty that include typing, filing, record keeping and meeting the public.

performance responsibilities:

1. Acts as secretary to the principal.

2. Renders various clerical services to teachers.

3. Acts as receptionist, answers telephone and delivers messages.

4. Types reports, letters, requisitions, stencils and teachers' materials.

5. Serves as school registrar performing enrollment and transfer processing, maintains attendance records, and transmits all such information to data processing center.

6. Handles student monies and accounts, develops insurance lists and

processes claims.

7. Handles or supervises daily lunch count and lunch money count.

8. Orders, distributes and inventories teaching supplies.

9. Administers first aid in absence of nurse and cares for sick or injured

teachers and children according to approved procedures.

10. Performs such other duties as directed by the principal.
