Facilities Lead


qualifications:

1. High School education or equivalent to ensure the ability to read and write as required in the position.

2. Thorough knowledge of the tools, materials, methods and practices followed in custodial/maintenance of tools, machinery, equipment, buildings and grounds.

3. Considerable knowledge of the requirements of maintaining school buildings in a safe, clean and efficient fashion.

4. Ability to prioritize activities and workloads.

5. Ability to perform strenuous physical labor involving the movement of equipment and furnishings.

6. Ability to maintain necessary record-keeping systems.

7. Ability to effectively assist with custodial employees, coordinate schedules, organize and direct multiple projects.

8. Ability to follow through on oral and written instructions or work requests by implementing appropriate action and ensuring that workis completed in a timely and efficient manner.

9. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with custodial staff, maintenance staff, supervisors, teachers, principals, students, administrators and the general public.

10. Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experiences and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above.

11. Experience and/or knowledge of governmental regulations regarding safe work practices and hazardous materials. i.e. AHERA, OSHA, HCS (preferred, not required)

12. Prior experience in providing leadership on district projects with facilities staff, custodial staff, and vendors.

13. Basic understanding of Integrated Pest Management requirements.

14. Limited maintenance electrical license (required, or ability to obtain district support provided).

15. Valid first aid card required.

16. Knowledge of heating and cooling systems, their operation, maintenance and repair (preferred, not required).

17. Considerable knowledge of the procedures and techniques for making routine but moderately complex electrical, plumbing, mechanical and construction repairs (desired, not required).

18. Bilingual (preferred, not required).

job goal:

Assists the Facilities Services Supervisor with the operations of the Facilities Services Department and District programs; assists district wide custodial staff; coordinates and schedules parts, equipment and labor; performing all the maintenance and grounds functions in the District as needed; makes and recommends purchases; serves on assigned committees; assist with inspections of buildings.

performance responsibilities:

1. Plan, organize, coordinate, and schedule work involving custodial services for district buildings.

2. Carry out District policies.

3. Prepare verbal and written reports.

4. Provide training to custodial employees.

5. Perform custodial, maintenance,and grounds work in the district as needed.

6. Ability to substitute for day and evening shifts when coverage is not available.

7. Assist with custodial supplies and equipment with custodial staff.

8. Serves as the District IMP (Integrated Pest Management) Coordinator.

9. Support of Facilities Services Supervisor in his/her absence.

10. Lead or assist with district projects. i.e. moving departments or managing a contractor

11. Assist with security and alarm systems throughout the district.

12. Perform other duties as assigned.

terms of employment:

Twelve-month year, eight hours per day. Salary and work year to be established by the labor agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.

evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Facilities Services Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation.
