Health Services Secretary, District


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. The ability to meet and work with the public and to exercise some initiative, ingenuity and judgment in solving minor problems.

3. The ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

4. Overall knowledge to enable the secretary to coordinate work required with other departments.

5. Secretarial skills to enable prompt, accurate completion of assigned tasks.

6. Computer and word processing skills.

REPORTS TO:

Director of Special Services, District Nurse, Occupational Therapist and Physical Therapist

SUPERVISES:

None

JOB GOAL:

The ability to perform the assigned duties and a disposition to fit into the special education and health services situation. Establish and maintain computer files to identify and track high risk students. Provide statistical information to buildings, agencies, and administration.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Coordinates the performance of varied office functions including clerical, secretarial, bookkeeping and receptionist duties.

2. Communicates with students, staff, community organizations, health-care providers, and the public using tact and discretion. Must comply with confidentiality requirements.

3. Works as a liaison between building staff, parents, and health department with regard to immunizations. Assists buildings in reviewing information and preparing reports. Tracts statistics. Provides necessary forms to buildings.

4. Searches records, requests information, identifies and tracks high risk students. Creates and manages computer files. Creates and supplies necessary forms. Issues health alerts appropriately.

5. Orders, tracks, stores, dispenses to buildings and maintains budget on health supplies. Creates and supplies necessary forms.

6. Collects data, requests information, tracks statistics, and reports information to administration on district accident reports. Provides forms appropriately.

7. Assists in building health screening as needed. Creates and dispenses appropriate forms. Requests information from parents to establish eligibility for financial assistance and communicates with sponsoring agencies and healthcare providers. Creates and maintains computer files, tracks statistics, and dispenses forms appropriately.

8. Performs other tasks as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

As agreed. Salary to be established by the labor agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Services in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation.
