Mechanic
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Thorough knowledge of methods and equipment for maintaining and repairing school buses and other District-owned equipment.
2. Ability to meet the requirements of the Oregon Department of Education and the Oregon City School District for a bus driver's license.
3. At least five years of experience in heavy mechanics with experience in the use of an arc welder, acetylene welder and diagnostic analysis equipment.
4. High school diploma or equivalent.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO:
Transportation Supervisor and Head Mechanic
SUPERVISES:
None
JOB GOAL:
To repair and maintain school buses and other District equipment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for completion of work orders assigned by supervisor.
2. Completes all records as directed by supervisor.
3. Substitutes as a regular bus driver on an as-needed basis when requested.
4. Provides own hand tools necessary to perform regular daily assignments. Provides the District with a yearly inventory of tools.
5. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve months per year, eight (8) hours per day. Salary to be established by the labor agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Transportation Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation.
