OCHS Principal’s Secretary
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge of modern office methods, practices and procedures, business English, spelling and arithmetic.
2. Ability to perform clerical work with speed and accuracy, typing at 50 wpm from clear, legible copy.
3. Learn to interpret and apply school laws, policies, rules and regulations.
4. Ability to make arithmetical calculations specific to bookkeeping.
5. Ability to prepare reports.
6. Ability to carry out and give oral and written directions.
7. Must respect confidential information.
8. Must be able to work harmoniously with staff, students and general public.
9. Ability to administer first aid and medication as trained by the district nurse.
10. Ability to assume responsibilities for other related duties as directed by the administration.

SUPERVISES:
Supervision and management of office staff.
JOB GOAL:
Perform, supervise and manage the performance of varied office functions including clerical, secretarial and receptionist duties. The use of independent judgment and decision making is sometimes required in matters not having established rules, regulations or policies. Communications with students, staff and the public requires the use of tact and discretion.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Acts as secretary to the principal.
2. Facilitates regular meeting of office and secretarial staff.
3. Maintains student, personnel, financial, statistical inventories and other responsible records.
4. Prepares and submits reports to central office and education agencies when requested.
5. Handles telephone calls, arranges interviews, and delivers messages.
6. Operates all office equipment used in the office.
7. Trains and supervises assistant secretaries and student assistants.
8. Types district requisitions and processes bills for payment, and keeps accurate records of requisitions and purchase orders.
9. Orders office and school supplies.
10. Types handbooks, bulletins, calendars, schedules, newsletters, agendas or assures that these tasks are completed.
11. Serves as liaison between administrator and staff, students and public.
12. Assists in preparation of budget documents.
13. Orders diplomas for graduation; programs for Baccalaureate and Commencement; and helps organize the Honor Cord Banquet.
14. Organizes and facilitates student registration procedures.
15. Organizes mailings, and organizes mailroom at the beginning of the school year.
16. Serves as back-up for receptionist/bookkeeper.
17. Sets up and organizes parent conference.
18. Performs related duties as directed by the building principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As agreed. Salary to be established by the labor
agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation.
