OCHS Student Success Coach

1. Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
2. Experience working in school improvement, preferably at the high school level.
3. A commitment to public education, social justice, and equitable outcomes for all students.
4. A commitment to self-reflection, examination of identity and role in systems of oppression and to challenging inequities.

JOB GOAL:
The Student Success Coach is responsible for the creation and development of processes, structures, tools and professional learning in conjunction with the Oregon Center for High School Success. Using evidence-based tools and practices, the Coach will work in partnership with school and district leaders to develop and operate effective systems to review data on performance, identify trends, and help individual students who are off track. The Coach will collaborate with the Center staff to continuously advance a coaching model that meets the needs of school leaders, and design and facilitate professional learning. This includes off site meetings and after school commitments.
The goal is to develop systems, conditions, and capacity for increasing student course performance in the freshman year and other key indicators for graduation from high school and success beyond high school. This position will report directly to Oregon City High School administration.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collaborate with Oregon Center for High School Success to develop process, structures and tools for maximizing freshmen success rates;
2. Collaborate with District Data and Assessment Coordinator to analyze and act on relevant student data;
3. Facilitate OCHS grade level teams to improve on track rates, course performance, and school attendance;
4. Co-facilitate professional learning around student success;
5. Partner with district middle schools to support students transitioning from 8th to 9th grade;
6. Establish targeted academic interventions to support all students (e.g. after school programs, home visits, student and family meetings, etc);
7. Work in partnership with all secondary schools to set goals and develop and implement plans to improve student learning;
8. Regularly communicate the work and profess to all relevant stakeholders;
9. Demonstrated ability to work and cultivate relationships with diverse constituencies, including principals, teachers, school staff;
10. Strong facilitation skills and demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles;
11. Excellent data anylysis and problem-solving skills;
12. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;
13. Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
As agreed. Salary to be established by the labor agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation.
