Personal Care/Instructional Assistant


QUALIFICATIONS:

5. Ability to express self clearly, precisely, and accurately.

6. Ability to receive, transmit, and carry out instructions given in English.

7. Possess or have the ability to obtain a current first aid card.

8. Ability to participate in such daily activities as jogging, running, swimming, etc.

9. Ability to use appropriate techniques for lifting, transferring, and positioning.

REPORTS TO:

Principal or designee and certified teacher responsible for specific assignments.

SUPERVISES:

None

JOB GOAL:

To ensure the safety and the educational and physical needs of a physically-challenged child.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist physically-challenged child with school work, lunch, recess, and activities of daily living, including toileting.

2. From specific directions of a teacher, assist students in learning subject matter.

3. Supervise students during class and free time periods.

4. Supervise and maintain student discipline.

5. Provide necessary personal care, helping with communication and writing.

6. Prepare instructional materials.

7. Demonstrate knowledge of bloodborne pathogen training.

8. Other relevant tasks as may be required or assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

As agreed. Salary to be established by the labor agreement and ratified by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the principal in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation.
