Behavioral Intervention specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree in education, special education or related field.
2. Valid Oregon teaching license.
3. Proficient in application of PBIS and MTSS, and fluent with the positive behavioral and intervention system models.
4. Experience working in programs for supporting students with lagging social, emotional, and/or behavior skills.
5. Fluent in emerging literature around neurobiology or trauma, ACES responsive classroom ecology, and collaborative problem solving model.
6. Excellent communication skills using multi modalities of communication (interpersonal, tech-based, team collaboration.)
7. Able to generate expert reports regarding student
issues, and program issues.
8. Demonstrated successful leadership with school
based student support teams.

Instructional assistants when available
JOB GOAL:
To provide guidance to staff and parents, lead instruction for elementary students in the school classroom designed for social emotional regulation
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implement Multi-Tiered Behavior Support Interventions in all common areas of the school environment.
2. Support PBIS systems in all classroom environments.
3. Coordinate, facilitate, and implement disciplinary intervention steps and processes with staff.
4. Manage minor and mid-range student discipline incidents by providing parent contact, restorative practices, progressive discipline, classroom coaching, data collection and intervention.
5. Collaborate with the school administrator, teachers, classified staff and parents to promote a positive school climate where students feel a strong sense of belonging.
6. Motivates students in a positive direction which will help students to increase individual decision-making responsibilities.
7. Attend and participate in various leadership team meetings and other building meetings as assigned.
8. Collaborate with the school administrator to provide professional learning for school staff related to behavior intervention strategies.
9. Other duties as assigned.
10. School counseling experience preferred, PBIS experience preferred, MTSS experience preferred.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the building administrator and Director of Special Services in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation.
